Now retired, Mr. Weary worked for ExxonMobil Chemical throughout his career, having acted as manager for over 30 years. Among his career highlights are a period wherein he initiated and executed the development and implementation of a new process for modified butyl rubber, which was essential to the continued growth of the industry. Mr. Weary was an integral part of this project and saw the process implemented throughout Europe and the United States.
Passionate about his local community, Mr. Weary has performed duties as co-chairman of the Association of Clear Lake Communities since 2001, having been a member since 1990. This group works with various city council and state governments on issues that affect the community. In addition, he provides tax assistance to the elderly and moderate- to low-income residents through his role as a site coordinator for the AARP Tax Aide Foundation.
Mr. Weary is also the chairman of the Exploration Green Conservancy. Exploration Green is a unique nature preserve around a stormwater detention area that greatly improved the local community. In his current role at Exploration Green Conservancy, Mr. Weary coordinates over 1,000 volunteers and secures funding for the associated amenities. Exploration Green Conservancy has been featured in numerous renowned publications and has earned several accolades from local, regional and state governments, as well as national organizations. Mr. Weary himself has been recognized many times by the Houston City Council for his work on various community engagement efforts. He holds bachelor's degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering from the University of Missouri. He attributes his success to his upbringing and his willingness to integrate and actualize input from others.
