ROCK HILL, SC, February 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Herman H. Yawn Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Beginning in 1968, Mr. Yawn served honorably on behalf of the U.S. Air Force for four years in the Air Force Armament Laboratory as a project engineer. He embarked upon his military service as part of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps while pursuing his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Clemson University in 1966. Following this accomplishment, Mr. Yawn went on to work as the director of the mechanical engineering technology department from 1972 to 1996 and becoming the acting Dean of Industrial and Engineering Technology for York Technical College from 1995 to 1996, whereupon he retired from the profession.
Mr. Yawn contributes to his community by working with United Way and as the director for the Royal Ambassadors for Christ. He has also worked as a Sunday school teacher and deacon for his local church. In honor of his dedication, he received a Plaque of Recognition from United Way. Furthermore, as part of his contributions to his main career, Mr. Yawn maintained involvement with the South Carolina Technical Education Association.
His brother being the first in his family to complete college, Mr. Yawn credits his success to the support he received from his family, especially his parents, Herman and Martha Sue Stowe Yawn. He was inspired to follow in his brother's footsteps and chose to pursue his own education. In his retirement, Mr. Yawn aspires to spend more time with his wife, two children and six grandchildren.
