CYPRESS, TX, February 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Eric J. Nathan has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Nathan began his coursework in music at the University of South Alabama and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Radio and Television from the University of Houston-Central. He went on to attain a Master of Arts in Humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology from the University of Houston-Central in 2009. Well qualified in his field, Dr. Nathan received an Adjunct Teaching Certification, along with several other certifications throughout the course of his career.
Dr. Nathan began his career as a Field Engineer before becoming an Instructional Technologist, through which he worked to implement technology in a school environment. This sparked his interest in Educational or Instructional Technology, leading him to pursue a Doctorate degree in Education. Ultimately aiming to support teachers who are uncomfortable with implementing technology in the classroom, he worked as an Adjunct Instructor for graduate and undergraduate courses for nearly 15 years. He worked at Houston Community College for eight years and served as the Director of Online Faculty Support for Lone Star College for nine years. Since 2021, Dr. Nathan has distinguished himself as the Dean of Faculty Development and Evaluation for Austin Community College.
In his present role, Dr. Nathan oversees Faculty Development and Evaluation, working with different academic departments in the college to identify opportunities for professional development. He and his staff facilitate and oversee a New Faculty Onboarding program designed to assist faculty in becoming more comfortable with the culture of the college and mindful of diversity, equity and inclusion in their teaching and learning processes. He and his staff also assist faculty with effectively utilizing technology in the classroom. During the span of his career, Dr. Nathan has been bestowed with an Access Television Award for a video production and won the Chancellor's Leadership Academy's Buffet Challenge with his team.
Dr. Nathan credits his success to the mentors he had throughout his career, including his own first grade teacher and his uncle, Dr. Broadus Nathaniel Butler, who served as the President of Dillard University. Presently, he and his wife plan to create a business that will focus on teacher development in low-income neighborhoods, which frequently lack the resources to improve their access to technology. Being a musician, Dr. Nathan also aspires to write soundtracks for films and television, as well as create education programs and public service announcements.
