An expert in aviation and airport privatization, Mr. Fuller's contributions in the industry spans more than 40 years.
GULF SHORES, AL, February 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott B. Fuller has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Supported by a long and successful career in aviation, Mr. Fuller currently serves as the director for Gulf Shores International Airport (JKA) at Jack Edwards Field. Coming out of retirement in 2013 after an eight-year commitment as the organization's airport authority manager, he is responsible for the overall operations and management of the airport. During his tenure as the airport authority manager, Mr. Fuller notably secured over $16 million in federal funding for airport improvements and secured another $20 million in private funding for new air service terminal and parking facilities. He also worked with the U.S. Congress to reestablish construction of new towers to allow for the first Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-funded tower in the nation under the new program.
Positioned in the heart of a large destination site for vacationers and business professionals, the JKA serves as a significant aviation hub along the Gulf Coast and southern region of Alabama. Originally utilized for military purposes in the early 1940s, it was later purchased by the state in 1977 before it was conferred to the City of Gulf Shores in 1983 for recreational and business purposes. Presently, it is recognized as the second busiest airport in the state.
An expert in aviation and airport privatization, Mr. Fuller's contributions in the industry spans more than 40 years. During the 1980s, he excelled as the deputy director of finance and administration for the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority, and as the manager of business development for Pan Am World Services Inc. In 1988, Mr. Fuller was named as the director of aviation for Gwinnett County Airport, a position he maintained for nearly a decade.
Mr. Fuller founded Airport Technologies Inc. in 1997, through which he provided his expertise as a consultant in the airport industry. The following year, he established American Airports Corporation in Los Angeles, where he served for 10 years as the chief operating officer. During this time, he cultivated the largest airport operator in the country and managed approximately 2,800 tenants. Ultimately, Mr. Fuller accepted a position with F&S Property Preservations & Inspections LLC as a managing member, after which he was acquired by the JKA.
Crediting much of his success on a quality education and the necessary experience to excel, Mr. Fuller is most proud to have initiated airport services to Atlantic City, New Jersey, by establishing scheduled service, and being certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization as an expert in aerodrome operations. He was also recognized for creating numerous federal policies in partnership with the FAA, which are still implemented in the present day. Furthermore, Mr. Fuller is the founder and former president of the Georgia Airport Association. He has also been active as a member of the American Association of Airport Executives and the Southeastern Airport Managers Association.
Supporting his community, Mr. Fuller is a member of his local chamber of commerce. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Gwinnett, the Aero Club of Metropolitan Atlanta and attends the United Methodist Church. Moreover, Mr. Fuller served on the 1996 Olympic Aviation Committee in Atlanta, and has been active on the board of directors of the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber. Additional contributions to his credit include his work as the vice chairman of the Metropolitan Atlanta Airports Council, as a board director and treasurer of the Aviation Council of Alabama, and on the board of directors of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance.
Mr. Fuller pursued a career in aviation in large part due to the experience he earned while working at a local airport during college. He was also inspired by his father, who was a licensed pilot. Notably, Mr. Fuller's father was instrumental in building the first navigational system in the southeast for the FAA, and his extended family was involved in building one of the first airports in the state of Florida, The Piper-Fuller Airport in St. Petersburg.
An alumnus of the University of Central Florida, Mr. Fuller earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting in 1978. He also completed a management development program at Boston College and numerous airport managers' seminars at Auburn University. Additionally, he holds a basic CFR certification in aircraft fire and rescue through the International Crash Fire Rescue Academy in Texas. Recognizing his success, Mr. Fuller has been featured in several leading industry publications. Outside of his vocational service, however, his passion resides in music. Looking toward the future, Mr. Fuller hopes to eventually win a Grammy Award for his talent as a songwriter.
Mr. Fuller joins his Great Grandfather, Oliver C. Fuller, named to the Who's Who in the 1920's for his many contributions to the banking industry, as founder of present day U.S. Bancorp. He is a descendant of General John Sevier of revolutionary war fame, founder and first Governor of Tennessee.
