MILLSTONE, NJ, February 24, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vicki L. Craig, MD, FCCM, CPHQ, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Craig earned a BA from Hofstra University, and a Doctor of Medicine from the Universidad del Noreste in Mexico in 1986. A certified professional in healthcare quality, she began her career as an attending physician for pediatric critical care at Jersey Shore Medical Center, later moving to a position at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She was promoted to the role of the director of safety and quality in 2016, and served as the interim chief for pediatric critical care medicine until 2020. Between 2018 and 2021, Dr. Craig was also the senior associate dean for safety, quality, and clinical affairs, as well as an associate professor of pediatrics for the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
In addition to her primary career endeavors, Dr. Craig functioned as a site investigator for the Children's Hospital Association and served as a council member, treasurer, and on the program committee of the New Jersey chapter of the Society for Critical Care Medicine. She also authored the application for the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital pediatric intensive care unit Family Centered Care Award. In recognition of her work and achieving high quality and safety in the ambulatory care practices of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, she was honored with a Dean's Appreciation Award in 2017 and a Faculty Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award in 2002 from the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Craig was also named as one of the Jersey Choice Top Doctors in 2019 and earned a Family Centered Care Award for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital from the Society for Critical Care Medicine.
As part of her dedication to her field, Dr. Craig serves as a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality, The Society of Critical Care Medicine and as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. She attributes much of her success to her mentors, Dr. Richard Brilli, the former Chief Medical Officer of Nationwide Children's Hospital, and Dr. Sherine Gabriel, who was a former dean of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and is President of Rush University. They both guided her to the opportunity to excel in executive leadership at the medical school.
Dr. Craig delved into the field of critical care for children because she is passionate about the diversity, challenges and technological developments that are part of helping children who are critically ill or injured. She also was drawn to teaching and committed to it during early stages of her career, mentoring residents and fellows throughout her professional journey.
