Having started his career in theater, Dr. Arbuckle decided to follow his interest in science and joined the medical field. He obtained a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from California State University and a Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Interested in both pediatrics and psychiatry, he decided on the former, completing a residency in pediatrics at the Children's National Medical Center in DC. In 2003 Dr. Arbuckle returned to residency and completed his dermatology residency and pediatric dermatology fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Likewise, he is certified as a wound physician, having studied wound care at the Women's College Hospital in Toronto, Canada. As a pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Arbuckle holds considerable experience in epidermolysis bullosa, a rare skin disease that requires a great deal of wound care. In fact, the most notable highlight in his career thus far involves having connected all of the pediatric dermatologists across centers for epidermolysis bullosa around the world, effectively expanding their resources on the subject.
Since 2011, Dr. Arbuckle has served as the section head of pediatric dermatology for the Colorado Permanente Medical Group. Earlier in his career, he was called upon to work for Children's Hospital Colorado, the United States Public Health Service, the Children's National Hospital and in private practice. In his current role, he is responsible for direct pediatric patient care within the Kaiser system, answering questions as a pediatric consultant and teaching at the Caritas Clinic.
A trusted voice in his field, Dr. Arbuckle has earned much recognition for his work. He was distinguished as Outstanding Student of the Year by Pharmaceuticals Ltd. for developing an HIV education program for the military. He attributes his success to hard work, luck, God and his support network. In the coming years, he looks forward to continuing to work with children after his retirement.
