LILLINGTON, NC, March 02, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David R. Gilchrist has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Gilchrist is a recognized leader in academia with over thirty years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses and serving in multiple administrative and advisory roles. Dr. Gilchrist has held faculty appointments at over a dozen different institutions of higher learning, either in a full-time capacity or as a visiting professor. His vast teaching experience is inclusive of finance, business, economics, human resources, marketing and law.
Presently, he instructs undergraduate students in business law, international business law and economics in the School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. In addition to lecturing, Dr. Gilchrist maintains ongoing research in the areas of Global Antitrust Law and Economics. Additionally, Dr. Gilchrist has authored numerous articles and policy proposals, and recently authored a consumer protection paper addressing the organic designation, "What's in Your Dinner? An Inquiry of Organic Food Labeling."
An equally successful entrepreneur, Dr. Gilchrist has served as the president of Global Economic Consultants in Lillington, North Carolina since 2018, a business he established after serving as the president of Gilchrist Consulting Group in Oklahoma City between 1984 and 2018. Prior to becoming a consultant, he held various corporate leadership roles. Furthermore, Dr. Gilchrist was a training manager for Global Services Corporation in Fayetteville, North Carolina, a military defense contractor with global reach, and a National Marketing Manager in the Southwest Division of MCI Telecommunications, Inc. His other corporate executive experience includes serving as the Vice President of Finance for Pawnee Real Estate Development Corporation in Dallas, Texas and for the Federal Reserve Bank System.
Dr. Gilchrist's avid interest in aviation began at the age of 10 years. Some years later he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant (officer) of the Air National Guard in 1978 and was awarded Military Commendation within two years after earning his commission and graduating as a Distinguished Graduate from the Academy of Military Science. A licensed pilot for more than four decades, he now serves as a volunteer Mission Pilot for the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), which is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. He attained the permanent rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2018. Dr. Gilchrist was named as the Squadron Commander of the Civil Air Patrol Sandhills Senior Squadron (NC-171) in July 2021. The squadron is located at the Regional Airport in Fayetteville, NC.
Committed to serving his community Dr. Gilchrist is actively involved in various civic, nonprofit and education organizations. He was elected on August 12, 2007 to become an ordained church deacon at Christian Light Christian Church where he carried on the family heritage, by being the fourth generation in his family to serve his church in this capacity. In addition, on behalf of honoring U.S. veterans, he co-founded the Veterans' Legacy Foundation where he has served as President of the Board of Trustees and continues to provide board leadership. Dr. Gilchrist was extensively involved with Mount Olive College, as Associate Dean of the School of Business, where he facilitated reaffirmation of the college's regional accreditation, and furthering greater adult student enrollment and enhancing faculty performance.
Highly educated, Dr. Gilchrist is a distinguished graduate of the Officer Training School at The Academy of Military Science (AMS). He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts at Wayne Community College (1974), a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences with a concentration in Physics at Campbell University (1976) and a Master's degree in International Finance and Multinational Business Management at Oklahoma City University (1989).
Dr. Gilchrist subsequently attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned the degrees, a Master of Arts (MA) in Managerial Economics, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics in 1994, 1996 and 1998, respectively. After numerous years of teaching, he continued his educational studies in 2020 when he successfully completed his Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Global Antitrust Law and Economics at Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University and in 2022 he completed his Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) degree from Delaware Law School.
Dr. Gilchrist is a licensed professional pilot with over 44 years of flying experience. His professional pilot credentials include private pilot licensure, commercial instrument rating and seaplane rating. He has a particular passion for flying vintage World War II airplanes and military jets. He also holds a professional designation of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and is a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina.
Dr. Gilchrist has a long time affiliation with several well renowned professional organizations, including the American Economic Association (AEA) and the International Chair Academy (ICA). Honoring his achievements, he has been featured in "Harnett County Life Magazine" and was featured in "The Daily Record" and "The Greater Fayetteville Business Journal' in 2021. Selected for numerous awards and medals over the years as well, he recently received a second Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Commander's Commendation Award in 2020. Other accolades to Dr. Gilchrist's credit include a 2018 Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, a 2018 Gill Robb Wilson Award for dedicated leadership, accomplished after his 2014 graduation from CAP National Staff College, a 2015 Paul Garber Award after his graduation from CAP Region Staff College, and a 2012 Brigadier General Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager Aerospace Education Achievement Award from the CAP Aerospace Education Program for Senior CAP Members.
