Always harboring an interest in the medical field, Dr. Gorsett pursued a career as a pharmacist. With over 30 years of experience, she attributes her success in the field to networking and establishing strong relationships with other medical and health care providers. She garnered experience in a general pharmacy residency at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, upon earning a Doctor of Pharmacy. Her professional path began in 1991, at which point she was employed as a Clinical Pharmacist in the Mercy Health System.
After gaining exposure to the field as a Clinical Pharmacist for seven years, Dr. Gorsett was recruited to serve as the Medical Science Manager at Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1998. Thereafter, she advanced her career as a Medical Liaison and later as a Senior Clinical Science Manager for Abbott Laboratories and Abbvie for over a decade. She was called upon as an Executive Medical Science Liaison for AMAG Pharmaceuticals from 2016 to 2019. Since 2021, she has flourished as a Principal Medical Science Liaison for Adaptive Biotechnologies.
Dr. Gorsett's area of expertise is in autoimmune diseases, specifically inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and dermatologic diseases such as psoriasis. In her current role, she interacts with health care providers to conduct research, review and discuss medical literature and provide medical education. To remain involved in the advancements of her ever-changing field, she maintains membership with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
Passionate about helping those in need, Dr. Gorsett regularly donates to the University of Nebraska Medical Center and to students who cannot pay for their college education, as well as various fundraisers to support medical research for debilitating diseases. She completed coursework at the University of Nebraska prior to earning a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1990. Though she has led an accomplished career, she is most proud of the time that she devoted to supporting the brand Humira, which has successfully helped patients with autoimmune diseases. She is gratified by her integral role in helping support the brand for over a decade. In the future, Dr. Gorsett intends to help patients by supporting effective medical brands to treat autoimmune diseases and to help find better ways to diagnose patients.
