Accumulating nearly two decades of expertise as a school principal, Ms. Peterson has distinguished herself as a focused and driven leader. Leading the Sagewood Elementary School, which is part of the Elkhorn School District in Omaha, Nebraska, she is committed to raising a community of learners that are encouraged and supported by both teachers and parents. Acquired for her position in 2013 when the school first opened, Ms. Peterson is honored to have served as the first principal of Sagewood, which has since earned renown as a thriving elementary school.

In this respect, she draws deeply from the influence of her father, who served as her own assistant principal while she attended high school. Ms. Peterson also found great mentorship and support in the form of her school principal as a teacher, under whom she worked for seven years before earning promotion to her current role.
A dedicated civic advocate, Ms. Peterson frequently donates to such organizations as the American Cancer Society for Pediatrics, the Alzheimer's Association, the Nebraska Transplant Organization and the American Heart Association. She also contributes to Womenade of Elkhorn, which is comprised of a local group of Elkhorn parents that provide various resources to the less fortunate members of the community, particularly the students of the Elkhorn School District. Additionally, Ms. Peterson is involved with the Tarleton Model for Accelerated Teacher Education program. Supported by several industry-related organizations, she is also active as a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association of Elementary Principals.
An alumnus of the University of Nebraska, Ms. Peters earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a Master of Arts in educational administration. Recently honored for her subsequent achievements, her school was recognized as a 2021 National Blue Ribbon Exemplary High Performing School by the U.S. Department of Education. The award recognizes the top 15% of high achieving students in each state in the areas of English and mathematics. Looking toward the future, Ms. Peterson hopes to either acquire a position with Elkhorn, where she can focus more on supporting student teachers, or teach at the university level.
