After reading a book entitled "The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston, Ms. Gill discovered a love of microbiology and decided to pursue that passion in college. In 2010, she earned a Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science from The University of Texas-Pan American. Soon thereafter, she graduated with a Master of Science in health sciences from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Gill is affiliated with the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

As the program director, she is responsible for educating future generations of medical laboratory scientists to provide accurate laboratory results to clinicians for them to accurately diagnose and treat patients.
Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Gill is incredibly proud of becoming a professor and a program director in the field that she loves. Within the coming years, she intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career. Ultimately, Ms. Gill aims to expand the medical laboratory profession in Rio Grande Valley and hopefully push for medical laboratory science to be a part of the diagnostic management team in the clinical setting.
