Ms. Martin earned an associate degree from Strayer College and went on to serve as a caseworker for the office of New Jersey Senator Harrison A. Williams in Washington, D.C. Since 2002, she has worked for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee as operations director and is now the Chief Operating Officer. In this present role, Ms. Martin ensures the organization's mission and vision are being carried out according to the party orthodoxy.
As part of her dedication to her career, Ms. Martin continues to serve her community as a member of the National Congress of Black Women and the NCBW Trenton Chapter, the National Urban League and the New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women. She is a part of the Mercer County Democratic Committee having previously served as a 2nd Vice Chair and she served as Chair of the Pulaski County Democratic Committee of the Arkansas Democratic Party.
Most notably, Ms. Martin was the first African American in the history of the Arkansas Democratic Party to serve as both Vice Chair and Chair of the more than 200 members of the committee, and was featured as a trailblazer for her accomplishments in both local and national publications.
In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Martin was honored with the Peg Roberts Award from the New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women in 2014.
