Earlier in her career, she worked as a reporter for the Madison Press in London, Ohio, as a media relations manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, with which she served for eight years, and as a public information officer for the Ohio Department of Health for four years.
An expert in her field, Ms. Beathard earned a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Dominican University in 1969 as well as a Master of Arts in journalism from The Ohio State University in 1986. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she is affiliated with the Ohio and Las Vegas chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists in addition to the Ohio State Alumni.
