Mr. Katz earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Temple University and went on to complete a tax preparation course from Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. He initially worked in operations with the furniture industry and was subsequently a furniture buyer for 10 years and later became E.V.P. of Product Development for Broyhill Furniture. Continuing this trajectory, he worked in merchandising in the furniture industry, including a stint with Schnadig Furniture Companies out of Chicago and Sear Homelife Co. Later, Mr. Katz became the vice president of merchandising for Magnussen Home Furnishings Inc. until he retired in 2018. Currently, he finds success as a tax preparer, providing tax preparation services for six months each year.
While working in the furniture industry, Mr. Katz was named Furniture Buyer of the Year in Chicago. Having always had an affinity for mathematics, he had taken courses in statistics and accounting while completing his undergraduate degree. When he was ready to retire, he acquired his tax license from the Internal Revenue Service so he could help people without having to work full time.
In his free time, Mr. Katz volunteers in his county to help groups that provide assistance to individuals with special needs or mental disabilities. When not giving back to his community, he enjoys his retirement playing golf and spending time with his family.
