Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1992, Mr. Scott began his career as a law clerk for State Farm Insurance while simultaneously pursuing a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Southern Illinois University School of Law, receiving his law degree cum laude in 1995. He is also a certified public accountant. Throughout his career, he worked as an assistant counsel and counsel for State Farm Insurance between 1995 and 2003, as well as the manager of international insurance, the director of insurance operations, vice president of insurance and risk management for Archer Daniels Midland Company and the president and general counsel for Agrinational Insurance Company between 2003 and 2017.
Drawing upon his professional expertise, Mr. Scott excels today as an attorney-at-law for Allison & Mosby-Scott in Bloomington, Illinois, where he has served since 2017. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the board of directors of the Captive Insurance Companies Association and as a member of the American Bar Association. He also served as the newsletter editor for the corporate law section of the Illinois State Bar Association.
In light of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Scott was honored with the Austin Fleming Award for Outstanding Newsletter Editor. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of working in private practice, specializing in crop insurance and acquiring the crop insurance managing general agency for Archer Daniels Midland Company. Notably, Mr. Scott was able to grow $28 million in gross written premiums upon purchasing the company to $550 million by the time they sold the company.
Looking toward the future in five years' time, Mr. Scott would like to see the continued growth and success of Allison & Mosby-Scott. Particularly, he intends to expand upon their commercial sector.
