PAHOA, HI, March 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melle Joy Polet has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Polet spent the years from 1989 to 1999 in the fields of fine arts and education. She completed coursework at an acting school and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. In 1992, she co-founded Edwin and the Bedouins, a musical collective, with Edwin Brownell as the prime member, alongside Natalie Michel, a singer/songwriter. Ms. Polet also appeared in several productions, including "The Queen and I" and "Clouds." In 2000, she helped form Tangoluna. From 2001 to 2009 she studied toward a Master's in Education at Elmcrest College in Toronto. In 2009, Ms. Polet immigrated to the United States, Hawaii in particular, and co-founded Hamakua Sacred Arts in 2014. A licensed massage therapist, she has worked for Giselles Day Spa and Avani Wellness since 2013. She is also a yoga fitness instructor and has been YMCA certified since 1994. In 2019, she co-founded Sacred Bungalows and Sisterhood Ohana. Ms. Polet is also an investment consultant.
She also volunteers her time with the Peter Gabriel Foundation, helping the organization in its efforts toward restoring global land trusts. She is also the active mother of two daughters and volunteers to help women of varied demographics to find solutions to their dilemmas, mostly pertaining to their financial education, housing situation and health.
As part of her dedication to her crafts, she is a member of ACTRA/Canadian Actors Equity Association, FanShield, and the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. In recognition of her artistic work, she was honored with the Dora Mavor Moore Award by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts. Ms. Polet attributes her success to the support she received from her family, especially her mother, Isabelle Merle Jean Braun (Polet), herself a pioneer in the fields of children's education and health. A lineage carrier (trained from a young age as a seamstress) a businesswoman, and a champion for human rights, who left an indelible mark not only on her family, but the world.
Ms. Polet became involved in her profession to pursue her passions for singing and dancing, which she has cultivated since coming of age. Ms. Kayla Gordon, her teacher in high school, served as an early mentor on her behalf, and helped influence her future career path. In the coming years, she plans to travel with her family to England to work with children at the Anna Scher Theatre. As playwright and producer, Ms. Polet also intends to expand her film company, XIXIMMXXI, in order to help more artists and reform the film industry. As a lifelong artist, she also plans to get back to her acting and singing career.
