MORGANTOWN, WV, March 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeanie Edwards has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Miss Edwards grew up in Pasadena, to where her Grandparents moved from Scotland and England in 1921. They were volunteers with the British Red Cross and became American Red Cross volunteers.
Jeanie became an official American Red Cross volunteer in 1968, and also took her first CPR/FA class, at the age of 12. In 1990, during a recertification, Jeanie was asked to become a CPR instructor. She also became a Disaster Services instructor. Some of the classes she taught as a Red Cross volunteer were Adult, Child, Infant CPR and First Aid, AED (automated external defibrillator), Pet First Aid, Wilderness Remote First Aid, and EMR (Emergency Medical Response).
In 2012, she founded THE CPR GALS and started getting paid for her classes. (www.theCPRgals.com). After many years of teaching Disaster Preparedness and being deployed to large disasters across the country as well as responding to local disasters, she started her Disaster website. Miss Edwards went through grade school and high school in Pasadena and graduated with a A.A. degree from Pasadena City College. After working in a couple of "started jobs", Miss Edwards became an E.M.T. (Emergency Medical Technician) which she spent more than 20 years doing.
In her current role with THE CPR GALS, Miss Edwards engages the community to Be Prepared for anything and everything, because "the question is not IF something is going to happen, rather WHEN is something going to happen? Will You Be Prepared?" In addition to booking and teaching a variety of CPR and Disaster classes, she helps organizations with their fundraising by hosting classes and giving a large portion of the revenue to the organization.
She works with several animal rescue groups teaching Pet First Aid, and groups that support children with Child and Infant presentations. Instead of selling candy or having bake sales, Jeanie has worked with High Schools to raise money by "selling" CPR and First Aid classes. Candies and baked goods are great, but do not last long. Learning how to deal with a medical emergency or disaster with confidence lasts forever. She also works with companies and churches teaching people to Be Prepared for themselves as well as their customers and their communities.
In addition to her primary career, Miss Edwards devotes much of her time contributing to her community.
Among others, she volunteered with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs as a HAM Radio Operator to assist with Disaster Communications and was a Volunteer Mounted Officer with El Monte Police Department.
Following in her family's footsteps, she is also a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses (after decorating floats for 18 years) and a board member of The Pasadena Kiwanis Club. Jeanie Edwards is also following in her Grandfather's footsteps with her inclusion in Marquis Who's Who as was he.
Miss Edwards has been honoured for her expertise in training. Between 2014 and 2021 THE CPR GALS has won Best Business of Pasadena awards and Best Small Business Excellence awards for her many CPR, First Aid, and Disaster classes and presentations.
Jeanie credits her success to her Christian faith and her Grandparents who instilled in her
the passion and importance of helping others and her community.
As for the future, Jeanie recently made the move to Morgantown, W.V., and looks forward to expanding her business to serving communities where she is less well known. After all, people everywhere have medical emergencies, and disasters happen regardless of where you live. Everyone needs to Be Prepared when something happens, because something will happen.
