MARIETTA, GA, March 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lynn McCray has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Lynn was born on Soffit Airforce Base in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up as an avid reader and peer tutor in Columbus, Indiana, and wanted to be an attorney from an early age. She graduated with honors from Columbus North High School including a bid into Hoosier Girls State, a program that teaches how the lawmaking process works and the importance of women becoming more involved in that process.
Continuing her education with a trip to Indiana University, Lynn worked with famed coach Bobby Knight and with basketball legend Isaiah Thomas, and several more. After graduating from IU with her BA in Political Science, the life journey led to one of the largest law firms in Indiana as a paralegal to attorneys for David Letterman. In those years, her talent and skills were developing, training and managing others.
Lynn worked tirelessly with many Representatives and Senators to pass the Uniform Marital Property Act to protect displaced homemakers. As a result of the issues/concerns facing women in transition, Lynn founded 1st Impressions as a Career/Image Consultant, designed to help displaced homemakers pick up the pieces of their lives and redefine their roles to move into the careers of choice.
Later, Lynn discovered her true passion of wanting to help people because of her own childhood trauma as well as creating a path of healing. The personal and business skills she developed were transferred to fill an overwhelming need to train at-risk youth in the school systems. Lynn worked long hours with the youth and their families to build confidence in themselves and their environment(s), encouraging development of life skills such as becoming entrepreneurs, and being their own heroes in the struggle for socioeconomic equality.
In 2009, Lynn made a choice to leave a relationship that was both mentally and physically abusive to step into recovery. As an owner of Noni New Age, her life continued on a path of health and wellness. To that end, Women's Health Consortium was founded, designed as a conduit to connect, encourage, and guide women to a better total health model, including a process to enhance balance recovery for stroke victims.
Lynn began her partnership with Eco Sneakers.ORG in 2017. Being a health advocate fostered a passion for our environmental health, which spurred her efforts in recycling and repurposing. The collaboration created an impact that has rippled nationally and globally. Serving as Executive Director, Lynn spearheaded the collection of more than 400,000 pairs of sneakers highlighting Super Bowl 2019, kept them from the landfill, partnered with then Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Ludacris Foundation, and the NFL Players Association to give out 4,000 pairs of sneakers to the hardest hit communities. The snowball effect continued as Lynn became responsible for repurposing thousands of shoes to people in need with programs such as: Spike the Sneaks©, Dunk The Sneaks©, and The Sole of Atlanta campaign, in addition to Sneaker Week© programs across the Southeast.
With a thirst for learning, Lynn became a Climate Reality leader, culminating over a decade of work in bringing awareness about social, economic, and environmental injustices. As a leader with Al Gore Climate Reality Corp, and the drive to Do More, Lynn educated many about climate change and how we can solve it, using a multimedia presentation and her own leadership skills in the years between 2018 and 2020.
Fast Forward to 2020, Lynn was named to the Super Six of Best Self Media's Over 40 and Fabulous and deemed the 'Environmentalist' for her role in Eco Sneakers.ORG and Women's Health Consortium. She was also featured as an ASHRO Woman spotlighting the silver lining of meditation, being still and detailing ways to thrive during the Pandemic.
Lynn maintains a high profile in the community, where she not only continues to be an advocate for but manages to contribute her skills to other charities such as Breast Cancer Awareness, Autism, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Stroke Awareness and Recovery.
