Previously, Dr. Barash distinguished himself as the project portfolio lifecycle manager in business operations and Photolithography engineer and manager at GlobalFoundries, a leading semiconductor manufacturer and design company, between 2010 and 2020. Prior to this role, he worked as a technology leader and research coordinator at the General Electric Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York, from 2003 to 2010. Dr. Barash initially worked in engineering and management roles at the Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector in Phoenix, Arizona, from 1992 to 2000. As a founding member of Applied Microarray (CodeLink) startup company, Dr. Barash built and led Engineering Team from 2000 to 2002.
Well regarded for his scholarly output, Dr. Barash has contributed to various peer-reviewed publications and presented at a number of conferences and symposia, such as the Advanced Process Control Conference in Austin, Texas, in 2015 and the 16th International Conference on Laser Optics in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2014. He also holds over 15 patents, including "Methods for overlay improvement through feed forward correction" in 2019 and "Method and process to reduce stress-based overlay error" in 2015. Moreover, Dr. Barash has maintained membership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Dr. Barash's performance in the field was born of his academic journey, which began at the St. Petersburg Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics, from which he received a bachelor's degree in physics. Following this accomplishment, he continued his studies and earned a Master of Science in physics, with honors, in 1981. Dr. Barash subsequently concluded his educational efforts at the A. F. Ioffe's Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in Solid-state Physics.
In accounting for his success, Dr. Barash credits his willingness to learn new things – an immensely useful skill in an industry that has changed dramatically over the past four decades.
