Driven by a passion for helping others, Ms. Jakachira originally wanted to become an educator. However, she realized that her interest lay in counseling while conducting her student teaching rotations. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and addiction studies from Alverno College in 2007, she obtained a Master of Science in mental health counseling from Springfield College in 2010. Additionally, Ms. Jakachira is a licensed professional counselor, certified substance abuse counselor, national certified counselor and certified eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapist.
Backed by her expertise in substance abuse and mental health counseling, Ms. Jakachira currently excels as the chief executive officer and therapist with Aisha Jakachira Counseling Services LLC. Since 2012, she has worked with the employee assistance program, helping trauma patients through eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, specifically with women, teens, and the LGBTQ+ community. Before working in private practice, Ms. Jakachira provided counseling services to group homes, correctional facilities and residential facilities.
In order to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, Ms. Jakachira is affiliated with the American Counseling Association, the National Board for Certified Counselors and the EMDR International Association. Outside of her primary responsibilities, she contributes to her community as a volunteer with the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of expanding her practice through a referral system and obtaining referrals from previous and present clients. Within the coming years, Ms. Jakachira intends to become licensed in many other states in order to reach as many people of color as possible.
