Dr. John Bates considers having attended more than 2000 births to be a highlight of his work as a physician.
CUTHBERT, GA, March 25, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. John Bates has been included in Marquis Who's Who. After completing a bachelor's degree in biology from Mississippi College, Dr. Bates earned an MD from the Tulane University School of Medicine and became a board-certified family physician through the American Academy of Family Physicians. During the early-1960s, he started as a doctor in private practice at John G. Bates, M.D., P.C. and remained in practice for 50 years. Throughout his career, he has also served as the coroner for Randolph County and medical director of the Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home.
Drawing on his considerable expertise, Dr. Bates has been active in academia as a preceptor, peer reviewer and medical staff member for institutions including the Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center, the Morehouse School of Medicine, the Medical College of Georgia, the Mercer University School of Medicine and the Medical Association of Georgia. To remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, he is a member of the Hospital Authority of Randolph County, Medical Association of Georgia, the Southern Medical Association, the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
Outside of his work, Dr. Bates has given back to his community as a member of the local chapter of Rotary International and as a member of the board of directors for the First State Bank of Randolph County. He was honored for his longtime service to the Southwest Regional Medical Center and presented with a Certificate for 40 Years of Service from the staff of Randolph Medical Associates, a Three-Year Service Award by Mercer University School of Medicine, and numerous awards for his work with the First State Bank of Randolph County. Though his career has been filled with highlights, he considers having attended more than 2000 births to be a highlight of his work as a physician. In the coming years, Dr. Bates intends to enjoy his retirement.
