Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, she pursued an education at the University of La Verne, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in computer science and engineering in 2013, and a Master of Computer Science from the California State Polytechnic University Pomona in 2018. Ms. Alarifi continued her academic efforts at the University of Nevada, Reno, earning a Master of Science in psychology and behavioral science in 2021. And she disseminated her knowledge through publications in well-known journals and as a keynote speaker at several conferences and symposiums. Ms. Alarifi also is a Co-Primary Investigator of a research group that received of a research grant from King Salman's for a disability research centre.
Ms. Alarifi worked as an independent software developer from 2008 to 2020, and contributed to the California State Polytechnic University Pomona as an instructional teaching assistant in 2018. Since 2019, she has built a prolific career at the King Faisal Specialists Hospital and Research Center - Center for Autism Research in Saudi Arabia, where she initially held the post of a computer systems development specialist in 2019, a data analytics analyst from 2019 to 2020, and later as a system software developer and a human behavior lab manager since 2020. In this capacity, Ms. Alarifi served as a part-time consultant for a ministry agency for educational programs at the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia, towards providing consultations to improve education for children with autism.
In her career related endeavors, Ms. Alarifi has successfully exchanged knowledge and expertise to establish an Applied Behavior Analysis & Virtual Reality Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she conducts experiments with Dr. Linda Hayes and Dr. Laura Barcelos Nomicos. Likewise, she has created and published webinars for the Center of Autism Research, and has presented and published such articles as "Using Multiple Machine Learning Algorithms to Predict Autism in Children" in 2018, and "Demographical Analysis to Predict Autism using Machine Learning Algorithms" in 2019.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Alarifi is most proud to have combined her technical and behavioral science expertise to be a contributor to establishing the first Human Behavior Lab in North Africa and the Middle East detected for Autism. She attributes much of her success to her supportive family and to her son, who was diagnosed with autism in 2016, thus inspiring her to pursue her vocational path. Looking toward the future, Ms. Alarifi aspires to expand the scope of her career by pursuing doctorate coursework.
