MIAMI, FL, March 29, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jose Luis Rodriguez has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a young man, Mr. Rodriguez cultivated a passion for the flamenco guitar. His mentor, Mario Escudero, a legendary flamenco guitarist and composer, gave him his first instrument, which he began playing professionally at the age of 14. During the early stages of his career, he served as an accompanist to many singers and flamenco dancers, including Belén Maya, Milagros Mengîbar, Manolo Marín, Rafael Campallo, Naranjito de Triana, Carmen Linares, Niña de la Puebla, La Susi and Paco Toronjo. Mr. Rodriguez has also had the honor of working alongside such greats as Susana Behar, Arcángel, José Mercé, Leonor Leal, Juan Carlos Lérida and Pastora Galván. He composed the music and was Musical Director of Ballet Cristina Hoyos* for almost 10 years.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Rodriguez has played for several symphonies and philharmonics, such as the South Florida Symphony, the Des Moines Symphony and the LA Philharmonic, and alongside Merche Esmeralda, Argentina and Rocío Molina. Additionally, he has parlayed his considerable expertise to others through intensives at URTGV University, Match2 Theater, and CCE Miami, residencies at Duke University, master classes at the Flamenco Society of San Jose, the Guitar Society of Corvallis and the University of Central Florida, as well as a number of workshops.
With a career spanning three and a half decades, Mr. Rodriguez has composed a plethora of works for concerts, tours and musical scores, and played tours around the world. In addition to playing as a guest artist in Siudy Garrido's "Entre Mundos" in Venezuela in 2013 and the Jose Luis Rodriguez Trio at Las Cocheras del Puerto the following year, he has toured consistently in the years since. In 2019, he was featured as a guest artist at Disney World in Orlando and at the Hollywood Bowl in collaboration with the LA Philharmonic and Siudy Flamenco Dance Company. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Rodriguez's tour schedule changed, but he has still been able to play at Queen Theatre New York, Adrienne Arsht Concert Hall, the Bandshell Theatre, Symphony Space New York and more.
An expert in his field, Mr. Rodriguez studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música and the University of Seville, and under the tutelage of Mario Escudero. In light of his outstanding body of work, he has been recognized numerous times, earning national and international prizes for his flamenco guitar expertise, the Medal of the City of Hospitalet de Llobregat in Barcelona, and annual awards through various flamenco associations. He has also been nominated for a U.S. Artist Fellowship and as the Best of YouTube by Pulse-TV, and honored as a finalist for a Guggenheim Award. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud to have played the guitar and composed his own music. Looking toward the future, Mr. Rodriguez aims to continue playing, composing and producing music for dance and guitar.
