Mr. Doran entered the hospitality industry at the age of 14 as the eldest of a large family. After working his way up from a dishwasher to a server, Mr. Doran continued his education at Paul Smith's College, where he earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences in hotel management and business administration. He went on to serve as national director of sales for Americana Hotels and Disneyland Hotels. Later, he was a field superintendent for The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers in addition to owning Summit Fireplaces and Accessories and the Quarter Circle Rocking D Ranch.
Throughout his career, Mr. Doran has also worked as manager of Boise Cascade Lumberyard in Steamboat Springs, CO, sales manager of Steamboat Motors, LLC, superintendent and event staff member of Campus Event Security at Clemson University and as owner of a licensed guiding and outfitting business, a spraying and water transportation business, and a Colorado Department of Agriculture-licensed weed abatement company.

While working as a sales and marketing executive, he managed high-end accounts for political parties, the American Medical Association, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations. Another highlight has been starting a horse-boarding and hay and alfalfa production-company, which sells more than 6,000 tons of product a year. In the future, Mr. Doran looks forward to watching his son, a two-time U.S. Olympian, successfully run his business.
