Mr. Sogol began his career as an attorney in the Tuscaloosa County Public Defender Office, through which he garnered experience from 1973 to 1978. Following this period, he established his own firm, Sogol & Chandler, for which he served as a partner until 1994.
Since 1978, Mr. Sogol has found success as an attorney at his own eponymous law firm. His area of expertise resides in criminal defense, having been recruited to act as a state representative for criminal defense for the Alabama Sentencing Commission. Since 1990, he has also been called upon as an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama School of Law. Notably, Mr. Sogol is a founding member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and has acted as a board member for the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and the American Civil Liberties Union of Alabama.
Mr. Sogol has earned much recognition for his accomplishments, including ratings from Martindale-Hubbell and Super Lawyers. He has been further distinguished amongst America's Top 100 Criminal Defense Lawyers and earned the Roderick Beddow Lifetime Award from the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. The first college graduate of his family, Mr. Sogol holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Alabama School of Law.
