Lovette Caples Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Law Enforcement

Driven to pursue a career in law enforcement from a young age, Ms. Caples served as a deputy sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department from 1968 to 1979. During this time, she was selected to undergo a trial to see if women were suitable to work in the field; it was after that time that women were allowed to patrol. Ms. Caples was one of the first 12 women in the United States to ever be assigned to a patrol car position in 1972. Subsequently, she gained valuable expertise in various aspects of law enforcement. Backed by her considerable expertise, Ms. Caples later excelled as the owner of A Investigative Services.

An expert in her field, Ms. Caples completed coursework in criminal justice and law enforcement administration at Glendale Community College and coursework in criminal justice and police science at East Los Angeles College. Throughout her career, she also received her certifications in intermediate peace officer standards and training and advanced peace officer standards and training. Licensed in real estate in California, Ms. Caples has further obtained criminal investigations and community-police relations certifications.

In conjunction with her primary responsibilities, Ms. Caples has contributed to United Service Organizations, Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. She is in the process of writing the first of a series of children's books entitled "My Life with Panda," about a 6-week-old female Shih Tzu puppy and a chronicle of her life. Ms. Caples authored "95 Fox: This Was My Call Letters in Patrol at West Hollywood Sheriff Station." For her professional achievements, she earned a Commendation from the County of Los Angeles, became appointed as an Advanced Officer by President Ronald Reagan, and a Lady Deputy in Patrol by Peter J. Pitchess. She considers her time with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department be her most important contribution.
