After more than four decades of service as a physicist, Dr. Comizzoli retired from his role a scientist for the Medeikon Corporation in 2007. He formerly worked for the Qusion Corporation in Monmouth Junction from 2001 to 2003, having previously spent 20 years with AT&T Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill and Holmdel in progressive roles. Likewise, Dr. Comizzoli worked for 15 years with RCA Laboratories in Princeton and Somerville as a member of the technical staff and manager of quality assurance.
Well regarded in his profession, Dr. Comizzoli is a recognized expert in the reliability physics of integrated circuits and electronic devices. Among his many achievements in the field, he successfully developed novel methods and techniques to identify the causes of electronic system failures. He also developed passivation for high-reliability semiconductor lasers, contributed to the development of InP lasers and InGaAsP photo-diodes, and devised a non-destructive method for detecting microscopic defects in insulating films. As a seasoned researcher, Dr. Comizzoli has also contributed numerous articles to scholarly journals, and co-edited the 1999 book "Corrosion and Reliability of Electronic Materials and Devices."
Dr. Comizzoli graduated from Saint Peter's Preparatory School in 1958 before receiving a Bachelor of Science in physics, summa cum laude, at Boston College in 1962. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he served for two years in the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Dr. Comizzoli was subsequently accepted to the prestigious Princeton University, where he earned both a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in physics in 1964 and 1967, respectively.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Comizzoli has been affiliated with several professional organizations. To wit, he is a fellow of the Electrochemical Society, where he served as the division chair in 1986, and is also a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is Past President of the Boston College Chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, Past Board Director of the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni, and a member of the Old Guard Princeton.
Highlighting his success, Dr. Comizzoli was recognized as a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Bell Labs. He also received two Outstanding Achievement Awards from RCA Laboratories and the Callinan Award from the Electrochemical Society. Locally involved, Dr. Comizzoli has contributed his expertise to the Montgomery Township Zoning Board of Adjustment in New Jersey between 1989 and 1993.
