After earning a Bachelor of Science in medical technology from the University at Buffalo in 1998, Ms. Capron served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. Between 2005 and 2016, she liaised with a wide range of Army personnel to accomplish goals, supervised laboratory staff and oversaw routine and emergency blood drives for wounded soldiers. For her steadfast dedication to her country, she was recognized for her work during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Backed by her considerable expertise, Ms. Capron excels today as a medical technologist with UM Upper Chesapeake Health. In this position, she executes and analyzes tests in the areas of chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, histology and bacteriology, conducts tests utilizing automated equipment, and assesses blood samples for transfusions by determining blood type and other relevant information. Additionally, Ms. Capron reviews test results to confirm accuracy and helps diagnose cases when it comes to irregular findings.
Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Capron is affiliated with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of her service in the U.S. Army Reserves and becoming involved in a campaign that aimed to encourage people to donate to military personnel serving overseas. Looking toward the future, Ms. Capron intends to retire and travel.
