Since 2019, Dr. Kiera Nevers Hayes has become a family medicine resident for MultiCare Tacoma Family Medicine.

Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Hayes earned a Bachelor of Science in anthropology and biochemistry from Beloit College, after which she attained a Master of Science in control of infectious disease from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2014. Following this accomplishment, she earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2019.
Dr. Hayes initially became involved in her profession after learning about neglected diseases and vector-borne diseases from a teacher. Developing an interest in the field, she resolved to pursue an education in anthropology while working in a laboratory to gain experience with infectious pathogens. Dr. Hayes subsequently studied abroad in South Africa, where she studied healthcare system utilization between allopathic health care, religious healing and traditional healing.
Dr. Hayes followed this by beginning her career as a laboratory technician for the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute in 2009. During this time, she also functioned as a research assistant for the department of gastroenterology at the University of Washington in 2011 and a middle school soccer coach for the Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2012. Dr. Hayes continued her career as a private tutor on behalf of Varsity Tutors in 2014 and 2015.
Since 2019, Dr. Hayes has become a family medicine resident for MultiCare Tacoma Family Medicine. In this capacity, she provides clinical care to patients living with acute and chronic problems. Furthermore, she sits on the social determinants of health committee, which is charged with generating tools to screen patients for needs outside of medicine and developing interventions to address those needs. While treating patients, Dr. Hayes commits to a holistic approach to medicine, through which she strives to attain an understanding of the factors that led them to become ill.
Known for her scholarly output, Dr. Hayes has conducted a wealth of research in the field of infectious disease, and penned numerous articles, such as "Patterns of Resort in Nzinga, South Africa: An Analysis of the Diverse Influences Affecting Health Care Choices." Out of dedication to her field, she serves as a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the World Organization of Family Doctors, the American Geriatrics Association and the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry. She also maintains involvement as the secretary treasurer for the Pierce County chapter of the Washington Academy of Family Physicians. In recognition for her work, Dr. Hayes was admitted to the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
