Mr. Garcia began his career working at Sirloin Stockade in Del Rio, TX at the age of 16. He subsequently garnered experience in supervision and managerial positions throughout his career. From 2000 to 2009, he worked in the automotive industry garnering the quality management and Lean Six Sigma experience that would propel his later success in municipal government. From 2009 to 2015, he excelled as the Director of Innovation within the municipal government for the City of Tyler. Soon thereafter, Mr. Garcia was appointed as one of the City of Tyler's Key Leaders and Interim Transit Director.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Garcia was recruited as the Innovation Manager of the City of Dallas. Earlier in his professional path, he honorably served as a private in the Texas Army National Guard and a Sergeant for the United States Army. To remain aware of the changes in his field, he is affiliated with the International City Managers Association and the Texas City Managers Association. Mr. Garcia was also active as the chairman for the Lean Six Sigma Consortium for Alliance for Innovation.
Mr. Garcia notably earned a bachelor's degree in social psychology from Park University and a Master of Business Administration from Sul Ross State University. Moreover, he has been presented with an Army Commendation Medal and the Blueprint Award from the City of Tyler. Attributing his success to the work ethic that his father instilled in him, Mr. Garcia intends to hold the position of city manager in the future.
