Bearing a great passion for her profession, Dr. Ohonba serves as a clinical pharmacist, entrepreneur and educator. Beginning her career in 2013 as a clinical staff pharmacist for a large pharmacy chain, she later formed WCI Health LLC in 2019 as its founder and chief executive, an alternative health and wellness hub. As a cannabis-psychedelic consultant for WCI, Dr. Ohonba teaches enthusiasts, dispensary owners and cannabis-psychedelic professionals about the health benefits that botanicals like cannabis and psychedelics have on the body. She also hosts various online educational programs regarding cannabis and alternative medicine, offers an educational series and masterclass through WCI Health University (The Intersection of Psychedelics & Science Education for caregivers), and speaks frequently at various events and conferences throughout the United States and around the world regarding CBD health and wellness.
Born in Nigeria, Dr. Ohonba encountered the benefits of herbal medicine everywhere while coming of age. Interested in starting a business in the U.S. to help people navigate the field of alternative medicine, she felt compelled to serve as an educator on plant medicine, cannabis and numerous CBD products including her brand GLOZE. Becoming sought-after for her expertise, Dr. Ohonba became the director of clinical science and therapeutics for Entheo Tech, a Kelowna-based bioscience company, in 2022. She also began teaching as professor of cannabinoid medical science at John Patrick University of Health and Applied Sciences in South Bend, Indiana, in 2022.
Dr. Ohonba is the author of the bestselling book, "A Pharmacist's Guide to Cannabis: Perspectives of a Non-Conformist Clinician" and hosts her own podcast, "Let's Talk Plant Medicine: Cannabis, Psychedelics, and Pharmaceuticals." She also hosts the Cannabis-Psychedelic club every Saturday at noon and the African Cannadelic club every Sunday at noon.
Contracting polio at the age of two, Dr. Ohonba grew up with a deep and abiding interest in science. Due to her health condition, which limits her mobility, she chose to specialize in pharmaceutical services. Dr. Ohonba later began transitioning into alternative medicine in order to focus more on her mission as the owner of WCI Health LLC.
An advocate for those living with disabilities, Dr. Ohonba also speaks on behalf of veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the LGBTQ+, BIPOC community and others that go underserved. Having been frequently bullied by her peers for her disability as a child, she hopes to influence change by promoting diversity and inclusion and by helping forgotten members of society gain a stronger voice. Dr. Ohonba came to the U.S. from West Africa in 2002. She later graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry, cum laude. Following this accomplishment, she transferred to Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where she earned a Doctor of Pharmacy.
