Drawing on more than 50 years of experience, Ms. Janpol has recently excelled as a Business Librarian at the New Haven Free Public Library and at The Westport Library. In both capacities, she oversaw their business-related programs and helped residents obtain information about the small business community. Ms. Janpol also focuses on maintaining partnerships with local business organizations to improve the libraries' position as a critical player in the business community. Currently, Ms. Janpol is the President of her own consulting firm, Janpol and Associates, where she concentrates on helping people find employment and on her motivational speaking career.
She was also a reference librarian at the Simsbury Public Library from 2015 to 2017. She had previously served as a technology trainer and business liaison for Guy Carpenter and Co. LLC and a business research librarian for Cartledge & Associates Inc. Ms. Janpol earned a Master of Business Administration in Management and Marketing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University. Before her involvement with public libraries, Ms. Janpol was Head Librarian and Assistant Director, Business Information Services at Connecticut Mutual Life. She was the first librarian in the history of the life insurance industry to be made an officer of her company.
In recognition of her extensive charitable efforts towards families facing financial hardships, the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies distinguished Ms. Janpol as a Family Champion in 2017. She has also been honored with multiple accolades on behalf of the Connecticut Valley chapter and the New England chapter of the Special Libraries Association. Along with her notable tenacity, she attributes a great deal of her success to the influence of her parents, both of whom placed tremendous value on education.
