After serving as a medical and office technician in the Army National Guard between the early-1990s and the early 2000s, Dr. Mackins gained valuable expertise in the field of education as a seventh and eighth-grade earth science teacher and science department chair for Anderson School District 4. Supported by his considerable knowledge, he presently excels as the owner of Mackins Enterprises, which he established in 2008, and as the assistant principal of Belton-Honea Path High School.
An expert in his field, Dr. Mackins holds a Master of Arts in school administration from Furman University and a Doctor of Education in professional leadership in education from Converse University. Additionally, he is a global career development facilitator through the Center for Credentialing & Education in North Carolina. Dr. Mackins received an education specialist certification and superintendent license through Clemson University. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Mackins aligns himself with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA).
Alongside his work, Dr. Mackins will be the next President of the Connie Maxwell Alumni Association (June 2022-June 2024). He will also serve on the Connie Maxwell Ministries Board of Trustees (2022-2027). Dr. Mackins serves as a public speaker with the Connie Maxwell Alumni Association. This association is dedicated to helping children who may not have parents in the home to have the same opportunities as others who have their families to support them. Dr. Mackins is also an ordained Southern Baptist Minister (Saluda Baptist Association). While his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud to have cultivated a steadfast adherence to his Christian faith and; his ability to support his family and help others around him. Looking toward the future, Dr. Mackins aims to become a principal or director or retire and operate his consulting business. His goal is to make a difference in the lives of others, particularly on behalf of students, teachers, and administrators.
