KAILUA, HI, April 13, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joanne Liu has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After graduating from Heilongjiang University, Harbin, China with a Bachelor of Arts, Ms. Liu came to the United States and settled in Chicago. She found herself unable to find Chinese herbs and teas in the local stores, leading her and her husband to aim to improve the availability of Chinese herbs in the US. In 1994, they started a Chinese herbal business named Health King Ent., which has eventually changed as Balanceuticals Group, Inc. that provides traditional Chinese herbal remedies and medicinal teas. To start, Ms. Liu aimed to make herbal products relevant in the US market and began importing 100 cases of Astragalus tea from China. On the first day of sales, only six boxes were sold to Sherwin's Health Food store, the largest in Chicago after soliciting similar stores an entire day. At that time Chinese herbs were unknown in the US. During the first two years of the business, sales were agonizingly slow; she called repeatedly and mailed samples without any response, but she pressed on and further excelled as chief executive officer with her tenacity, foresight and leadership.
Through positive feedback and her ever-expanding knowledge, Ms. Liu firmly believes her products can be of significant value to the public and began building her business by performing product demonstrations. She relentlessly called to convince stores to allow her to do tea demos. At every demo, she spent six hours or more without a break and tried to talk to as many customers as possible; so much so that she hardly stopped talking until her voice became hoarse. Sometimes 140 boxes sold at one demo. She did so for more than five years (about five thousand hours), and gained more and more customers. Eventually, the stores began calling her for more demos to the point that her teas were being sold in 200 stores in Chicago by the year 2000. For the first five years, almost no profit was made. Some friends cautioned her not to go too far. But she held out until she prevailed. She worked 16 hours daily with no weekends or holidays off. But she didn't get depressed, instead she is happy to hear so many people reporting their disorders had improved or disappeared and they are enjoying a better quality of life after using Balanceuticals products.
Afterwards, Balanceuticals Group created Balanceuticals brand herbal formulas, SeabuckWonders brand products which she notes have not been easy to sell despite how well they work due to the fact that traditional Chinese medicine has not yet been officially accepted. She suffered for 50 years from a stuffy nose and tried everything doctors provided, but nothing worked. Eventually she lost hope and stopped visiting doctors for it, and applied sea buckthorn oil into her nose. Surprisingly her sinus opened and the mucus was out. She continued to use it until her nose was no longer stuffy. She uses sea buckthorn oil as a daily first aid for almost everything. Consuming sea buckthorn oil totally changed her life and improved her health completely. She believes it also can change the lives of other people. So Balanceuticals Group made extra efforts to market sea buckthorn products. Thousands of samples were handed out at natural product trade shows and tons of inserts and flyers were printed for consumers and distributing catalogues. Gradually, sea buckthorn products began doing well. At present, Balanceuticals Group makes and distributes 37 Chinese medicinal teas, 35 Chinese herbal formulas and 21 sea buckthorn products that are sold through the United States and the Caribbean.
Outside of her work, Ms. Liu gives back to those less fortunate by feeding the homeless. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud of having successfully built the first business in the US providing products of authentic traditional Chinese medicine to the American people, to improve public health and contribute to enhancing the American standard of living. Nowadays, Chinese herbs are available in almost all health food stores. In the coming years, she aims to continue helping people in her community and showing them the benefits of Chinese medicinal products.
