SEOUL, KOREA, April 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Young Soo Kim with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Kim celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Kim is a research and development engineer currently serving as the head of the Surveillance System Team at Hanwha Systems, Inc., a global leader in defense and information infrastructure technologies. As a child, Mr. Kim enjoyed photography, and his early love for cameras led to a fascination with optics. An alumnus of Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea, Mr. Kim holds a bachelor's degree in physics and was awarded a Master of Science in physics and optics in 2006 after presenting his thesis on military and defense applications for novel optical technologies.
From 2006 to 2011, Mr. Kim was an optical developer for the Navigation FLIR for the Korean Helicopter Project, followed by three years of optical development work on the Directed Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) Project. During this time, he concurrently contributed to major research and development initiatives, including the development of reflective ultralight silicon carbide components for satellite technologies, hyperspectral imaging processes and the EOIR Unmanned Air Vehicle Project. Currently, Mr. Kim is a system manager and developer on Hanwha Systems' four-year high bandwidth deformable mirror development contract and the project lead for the Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics System project, expected to conclude in 2025.
Mr. Kim is extensively published, and has contributed articles to journals including the Journal of the Korean Physical Society, Optics Express, Current Optics and Photonics, and the Korean Journal of Optics and Photonics. He considers his work on defense satellite projects to be among the most significant of his career, and looks forward to seeing its development through to completion, with final tests to be conducted from a mountaintop tracking site in early 2025. As part of his commitment to advancing the body of scientific knowledge and contributing to modern defense science, Mr. Kim is active in the Optical Society of Korea, the Korean Physical Society, the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, and the International Society for Optics and Photonics.
