STRONGSVILLE, OH, April 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shanna Chambers Dunbar has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Dunbar earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology and exercise science from the University of California Los Angeles in 1983, after which she attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University in 1986. Well qualified in her field, she is certified as a health coach and transitional work program developer, as well as an occupational nurse specialist and public health nurse.
Ms. Dunbar began her career as the manager of the occupational health department for NI Industries, a Masco Corporation, in 1987. Following this role, she transitioned to become the Director of Occupational Health Services for the Stockman Group in 1989, and worked in a similar capacity for the Southwest General Health Center in 1995. Ms. Dunbar subsequently worked as an administrator for the center of corporate health of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2000.
Continuing her career in nursing, Ms. Dunbar maintained involvement as an on-site nurse case manager for Americhem Inc. and as a vocational rehabilitation case manager and nurse consultant for Crawford and Company between 2001 and 2004, whereupon she took a leadership position as the director of occupational health services for Safety Controls Technology. After excelling in this role, she departed in 2007 to work as a health and wellness coordinator at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC. During this time, she became the president of Workplace Health Inc., where she has continued to serve. Ms. Dunbar has also found success as a certified health coach for OptaVIA since 2010.
Ms. Dunbar decided to become a nurse after researching the subject of occupational health nursing while pursuing her studies in kinesiology. Having cultivated an interest in the field, she felt compelled to help employers make a significant difference in patient outcomes throughout her local county.
In recognition for her expertise, Ms. Dunbar was honored with the Chapter of the Year Award from the Ohio Association of Occupational Health Nurses in 2018. As part of her dedication to her field, she is a member of the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses and the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses. She also serves as the treasurer for the Northeast Ohio Association of Occupational Health Nurses and previously maintained involvement as the president for the Ohio Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Driven to serve on behalf of her local community, Ms. Dunbar volunteers with the health ministry at Faithwalk Church.
An expert in comprehensive workplace health, Ms. Dunbar feels driven to provide opportunities for employers to enact changes as needed in the health care system. To wit, she focuses much of her efforts on helping businesses to develop and maintain a focus on effective health policy, with the goal of protecting workers.
