Among them, Mr. Harvill is particularly proud to have represented a woman who lost her husband during an automotive accident, for whom he garnered $10.2 million.
Growing up as a migrant farmworker who pulled cotton in West Texas, Mr. Harvill later paid his way through college by feeding chickens. Grateful for how far he has come, he also found success in real estate over the span of his career. One of Mr. Harvill's larger investments included the purchase of a $265,000 tract of land that sold for $2 million. Dedicated to contributing to his local community as a result of his good fortune, Mr. Harvill donated $600,000 to support his church.
Mr. Harvill acquired a Bachelor of Science in agriculture at Texas A&M University in 1957. He subsequently served in the U.S. Navy before returning to college, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1964 as the sixth in his graduating class. While on active duty in the military, Mr. Harvill was dispatched to Philadelphia to serve as a witness for several seamen involved in legal issues, which inspired him to return to college to study legal service. Mr. Harvill has been admitted to practice law by the Texas Bar Association, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Returning to his roots, Mr. Harvill is a past vice president of the Arabian Horse Association. Having become active in horsemanship, he was named among the Top 10 in several Canadian and American equestrian competitions, received a National Award in Canada, and was rated as the sixth in cattle cutting worldwide. Benchmarking his success in law, Mr. Harvill was lauded as an AV Rated Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell.
