This was followed by a fellowship in neurocritical care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Continuing his academic efforts, Dr. Bar earned a Master of Arts in bioethics and health policy from Loyola University of Chicago in 2021. He currently holds medical licenses in the states of California, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina, among others.
Certified in neurology and neurocritical care by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Bar serves as a neurocritical care specialist at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is also the founder and president of Lightning Brain LLC, through which he provides neurocritical care expertise to hospitals that are experiencing a shortage of physicians. Furthermore, Dr. Bar consults on bioethics for healthcare institutions and other organizations while providing his medical and legal expertise in neurology and neurocritical care for various legal firms that require medical experts.
As part of his dedication to bioethics, Dr. Bar is affiliated with the Society of Critical Care in Medicine, the International Neuroethics Society and is a past ethics committee member for the Neurocritical Care Society. He was awarded with the Presidential Citation from the latter organization in 2019 and has maintained his involvement as an associate editor for the Frontiers Journal of Neurology and Neuroscience, as well as serving as a reviewer for several highly esteemed peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Bar attributes much of his success to his persistence, even in the face of setbacks throughout his professional journey. He first became interested in becoming a doctor when he was seven years old, and later developed an interest in neurology due to his longstanding interest in the mysteries of the human brain. Looking toward the future, Dr. Bar hopes to expand his work in medico-legal, bioethics, and neurocritical care at St. Luke's Medical Center. He also aspires to utilize his neurocritical care and bioethics expertise to provide consultations on behalf of hospitals and healthcare professionals.
