She earned both a bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical sciences and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Soon thereafter, Dr. Williams Carter garnered experience in a first year residency program at Brookdale University Hospital and a second year residency program at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, both located in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Williams Carter began her career as an assistant professor at the Long Island University Pharmacy, a role in which she excelled for six years. In her current role as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist who is board certified in ambulatory care and certified in human immunodeficiency virus management, she works alongside physicians, social workers, physician assistants, nurses, and medical residents to provide them with consultations and drug information. Moreover, as an employee of Northwell Health's endocrinology department, she ensures that her patients have access to their medications and provides one-on-one counseling for medication management. Additionally, Dr. Williams Carter is active as a mentor and preceptor to pharmacy residents.
Amongst her numerous accomplishments, Dr. Williams Carter is incredibly proud of having established a pharmacist-led heart failure clinic. She attributes her success to the guidance and support that she has received from her mentors and preceptors. Aside from her primary vocational pursuits, she volunteers at various community outreach programs and has volunteered at health fairs to provide health care and HIV/AIDS education and prevention strategies. In the future, she intends to expand her role and to help more patients manage their medications and conditions in underserved communities.
