Well regarded as a school psychologist, Mr. Mitchell joined the staff of Baltimore County Public Schools in 2021. As the third largest school district in the state, he performs cognitive psychological assessments on students, as well as social emotional rating scales to better understand their behaviors and development. Additionally, he consults with various school faculty members in regards to student-individualized education planning teams. Mr. Mitchell also collaborates with several school counseling teams, parents and agency representatives.
Prior to his commitments in Baltimore, Mr. Mitchell spent two years in the same capacity for the School District of the City of New York from 2019 to 2021. He also worked as an intern with Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. While obtaining his master's degree, Mr. Mitchell served as a graduate assistant at Millersville University of Pennsylvania, within the Office of Experiential Learning and Career Management, and as a therapeutic support staff member at Family Behavioral Resources.
Mr. Mitchell became intrigued by the brain and its development while pursuing his undergraduate degree in biology. Equally interested in education, he switched his major after attaining a Bachelor of Science in psychology at York College of Pennsylvania in 2016, after which he earned a Master of Science in school psychology at Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2018. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Mitchell served as student senator, admissions campus guide, and a resident assistant between 2013 and 2016.
Well qualified in his field, Mr. Mitchell is a licensed professional educational specialist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a nationally certified school psychologist through the National Association of School Psychologists. Mr. Mitchell is currently married to his wife, ShaiQuana Mitchell, and they have one son together, Ronald J. Mitchell III. In the coming years, Mr. Mitchell aims to pursue a doctoral program to expand the scope of his education, while being a dedicated husband and father to his family.
As part of his professional commitments, Mr. Mitchell is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and the Maryland School Psychologists' Association (MSPA). He currently serves on MSPA's Newsletter Committee. During the stages of his college career, Mr. Mitchell was named as the Programmer of the Year and Most Dedicated New Resident Assistant by York College Residence Life during the 2015 to 2016 academic school year.
