Mr. Lomax serves as a professor of construction technology at San Jose City College.
Joining the faculty in 2009, his courses focus on all aspects of carpentry. He has also taught several business courses and maintained involvement as the chair of his department. An influential and inspiring educator, Mr. Lomax notably developed a pioneering program in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) with Stanford University. He also began incorporating digital design into his classes, which has significantly encouraged creativity and has resulted in an improved enrollment rate of 50%.
Prior to his tenure at San Jose City College, Mr. Lomax taught construction courses at the University of Montana and at a local high school. Garnering practical experience in his profession, he spent years in the construction industry, building native hut houses in remote arctic regions throughout Alaska and remodeling residential homes and commercial buildings in multiple states, as well as in Mexico. Additionally, Mr. Lomax became active in real estate, buying, developing, designing, and reselling properties after implementing various renovations.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Lomax aims to establish a consulting business through which he can provide his expert advice to emerging leaders in the industry. He is also currently writing his autobiography. Crediting his years of success to his wife for her ongoing support and his love for his son, Mr. Lomax was notably honored with a Recognition Award from Stanford University for the development of his VDC program.
Mr. Lomax earned an Associate of Arts at the University of Nevada Community College of Southern Nevada. Following this accomplishment, he completed a Bachelor of Science in workforce education, with a concentration in business, at the University of Nevada, followed by a Master of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix. Mr. Lomax is Occupational Safety and Health Administration certified and a licensed home inspector in the state of California. He also holds several certifications in ethics, in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and as a private pilot.
