CLARKSTON, GA, April 21, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Maralene Ferguson Bates has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than three decades of experience in the field of education to her credit, Ms. Ferguson Bates is the founder of Sanfoka Education Services, where she currently serves as the CEO, director, and lead educator. As her educational philosophy is guided by her belief that children should be taught critical thinking skills, rather than rote facts, she is passionate about helping students develop their interests, observe connections in the world around them, and become intelligent life-long learners.
Ms. Ferguson Bates' story began in the U.S. Army, through which she was enlisted for four years and earned five Top Honor Graduate awards. Her education continued at Monterey Peninsula College, where she obtained an Associate of Arts in business administration. She subsequently received a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in business management from City University New York (CUNY) at Medgar Evers College. There, Ms. Ferguson Bates was granted the Academic Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement.
A mother of five, Ms. Ferguson Bates was inspired to enter the field of education by her own dissatisfaction with the methods by which children were being taught. Shortly after beginning to teach her children through home schooling, other children in their communities joined her classes. As Sankofa Alkebu-Lan Home School grew the educational program included art, foreign languages, dance, and metaphysics.
Ms. Ferguson Bates' achievements as an educator and entrepreneur have been recognized with several awards and certifications. She is a Georgia certified educator for reading, mathematics and writing. She was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in the ninth and eleventh editions. Furthermore, Ms. Ferguson Bates was a peer-selected top graduate of the START:ME Business Accelerator program. She is certified as an internationally-certified Teaching English for a Foreign Language and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TEFL/TESOL), with distinction.
Working with a wide variety of age groups, Ms. Ferguson Bates is most proud of her ability to help students develop a newfound appreciation for the study of mathematics. She also takes great pride in the test preparation program she developed, with a workshop that has been credited with helping high school students excel in their ACT and SAT test scores.
