She continued her academic efforts at the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 2018. Ms. Scruggs-Smith began her career as a legal intern at Alpha Legal in 2015 and continued in her post as a legal intern at Wake County Family Court in 2016. She garnered further expertise as a summer law clerk at Kurtz and Blum PLLC in 2017, a law clerk at the Triangle Law Group from 2018 to 2019 and a document review attorney at Dauntless Discovery in 2019. Since 2019, she has found much success as an associate attorney at Whitaker and Hamer PLLC. In this capacity, Ms. Scruggs-Smith is responsible for separation agreements and divorce cases, as well as reviewing title policies and handling real estate closings.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Scruggs-Smith serves as a volunteer current event committee member for Capital City, and aims to contribute more to minority and animal rescue organizations. Among her professional accomplishments, she is incredibly proud to have passed her bar examination and to become the first attorney in her family. She attributes much of her success to her single mother, who supported and encouraged her to strive for greatness.
