Ms. Sierra worked her way up the ladder in the mortgage industry starting from an entry-level position to a vice president at a very prominent mortgage company. To prepare for her professional journey, she completed courses at Mt. San Antonio College. She began her career in 1979, starting in clerical roles, working up through processing, closing and underwriting until becoming a loan officer for 11 years while raising her kids as a single mom. She then decided to move back to the operations side of the business and became a closing manager, working for eight years in Wells Fargo in the renovation department. In recognition for her expertise, she was presented with a Service Excellence Award from Wells Fargo in 2008.
For the past 20 years, Ms. Sierra has primarily worked in Renovation products for the lending industry. Her current role is with Homeowners Financial Group where she is the VP, Renovation Lending Manager. She is working with a strong team of Renovation specialists and developers to create resources for training and development of all team members in this very niche product. She collaborates alongside the Reno Team to assist the loan officers, processors, underwriters and closers throughout all steps of the loan process from origination through closing. She and her colleagues have been developing their computer processing systems and are preparing to distribute a new product to their branches rolling the product in May. Committed to performing her role with kindness and generosity, Ms. Sierra notes that the Renovation products that Homeowners Financial Group will offer are the best for people who are renovating a home. Building a strong support team to assist our peers is key to closing the loans on time.
Ms. Sierra's company is centered on establishing an effective work-life balance, while also giving back to their community. They established an organization called Care Fund, which provides funds to home payments—including mortgage or rent—for those who have children who are sick or hospitalized. She also volunteers in many areas which includes raising funds to benefit UMOM, an organization in Arizona that helps homeless moms and their families. In past years, she was involved and contributed to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of her stepson, who is a wounded combat veteran. Giving back is a focus of her company and she personally hopes to make a difference in the world.
Ms. Sierra hopes to retire in the not-so-distant future and spend her time traveling while potentially remaining at her company in a part-time capacity. Work life balance is what is the goal until then. She will also continue to spend time with her family and is blessed to be close to both of her children's families and spoiling her 3 grandkids. She considers herself blessed to be able to help in the care and spending time with her mom who is 88 years old. Life is good.
