Drawing on years of expertise in such psychological issues as addictions, eating disorders and more, Dr. Clay presently excels as the owner of SeaGate Psychological Services PLLC, where she also serves as a clinical health psychologist. Since joining the organization in 2008, she has seen clients and maintained every aspect of the business, and gained valuable expertise in education as the chair and associate professor in the counseling and health psychology department of Bastyr University.
During an earlier stage of her career, Dr. Clay worked as an adjunct and associate professor with Argosy University, where she also functioned as the chair of her department. Additionally, she maintained involvement as a clinical health psychologist with PsyCrane LLC, the Washington State Department of Corrections, McNeil Island Corrections Center, the YMCA and the Swedish Medical Center. Between 1989 and the late-1990s, Dr. Clay also worked in various management, counseling and assistant roles with the Washington School of Professional Psychology, Eastside Mental Health, Ferndale School District and Avalon Counseling Services.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Clay earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences from Whatcom Community College. Following this accomplishment, she received a Bachelor of Arts in continental philosophy through Seattle University, a first licentiate in continental philosophy through Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, a Master of Arts in clinical psychology from the Washington School of Professional Psychology and a Doctor of Psychology from Argosy University. After the turn of the century, Dr. Clay also completed a postdoctoral residency training program in forensic psychology through the Washington Institute for Mental Health Research and Training.
Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Clay aligns herself with the Washington State Psychological Association. Previously, she was also a member of the American Psychological Association. In light of her professional accomplishments, she received a Third Place Award through the American Counseling Association and the Washington State Psychological Association, and was honored for academic excellence at Seattle University and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. In a career that has been filled with highlights, she is most proud to have written a cross-disciplinary paper that she presented in England after earning her undergraduate degree in philosophy.
