CHICAGO, IL, April 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Abbie Cronin has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.
Driven by a passion for helping others to create the best version of themselves, Ms. Cronin completed coursework in social work through Loyola University Chicago before obtaining a Bachelor of Social Work from Governors State University in 1989. She subsequently earned a Master of Arts in counseling from her undergraduate alma mater and began her career as a Crisis Program Coordinator and Counselor at Thornton Township Youth Committee. During her tenure there she was instrumental in offering crisis intervention and clinical therapy to children and families that were in high-risk areas of gang activity and trauma. Following this work she accepted a position as the Assistant Director of Orland Township Youth Services, where she worked between 1997 and 2000. After working exclusively in non-profit organizations, Ms. Cronin moved into corporate work where she was promoted to an Account Executive and managed a large account for one of the largest managed care companies in the country. It was during this tenure that she developed and grew a multi-state Employee Assistant Program for the employees, realizing that health care workers need mental health support to combat burnout and secondary trauma. As a psychotherapist, her true passion was helping people move into the best version of themselves. Currently, Ms. Cronin has a private practice in Chicago and the suburbs of Chicago, providing psychotherapy to individuals and families. She also provides consultation to professionals interested in increasing the mental health of their employees and supportive consultation to many physicians and pediatricians so they can better assess their patient's mental health needs, consequently referring for psychotherapy sooner rather than later.
Backed by more than 20 years of professional expertise, Ms. Cronin excels today as a psychotherapist in private practice. Since 2000, she has worked with people of all ages, ranging from two to 85. A licensed clinical professional counselor, she is affiliated with the American Counseling Association, the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association and the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors.
Furthermore, Ms. Cronin was recognized as an All-American Scholar, and received several Mental and Behavioral Health Employee of the Quarter awards and Quality awards, over the years. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of her nonprofit work and being a part of a team of professionals who collaboratively developed a crisis intervention and placement stabilization program called the Thornton Township Regional Action Planning Project. Within the coming years, Ms. Cronin aims to expand her practice and her consulting work.
