Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a young man, Mr. Eade was given the opportunity to meet adults who treated him as a peer through the game of chess. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1978, he received a Master of Arts in human resources management, with a focus on organizational development from the University of San Francisco, in 1991. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Eade gained valuable professional expertise as the founder of Hypermodern Press, an organizer of both the Hall of Fame Tournament and the Pan Pacific International Chess Tournament and as a freelance producer with IBM.TV.
For nearly two decades, Mr. Eade worked as a trustee and the president of the U.S. Chess Trust. Drawing on his considerable knowledge, he presently excels as the chief executive officer of Eade Foundation, a nonprofit organization supplying chess sets and equipment around the globe to people who cannot afford their own. Outside of his primary career pursuits, Mr. Eade has dedicated himself to the Chess Journalists of America, CalChess – Northern California Chess Foundation, the Kolty Chess for Youth Foundation, the chess advisory board at the University of Texas at Dallas and the Ananda Organization.
Due to his vast experience, Mr. Eade has authored a number of works, including "Chess for Dummies," "Chess Openings for Dummies," "The Chess Player's Bible" and "Remember the MacCutcheon!." His book "Freedom: Your Path to Recovery" will be available in the summer of 2023. Additionally, he has served as an editor and publisher of CalChess Journal and Golden Gate Chess News. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Eade has been honored as a Chess Educator of the Year through UT-Dallas in 2016 and received an Outstanding Career Achievement Award through the U.S. Chess Federation.
In accounting for his success, Mr. Eade credits his determination, his resilience and ability to focus on achieving his goals. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud to have managed one of the most prestigious chess tournaments in San Francisco history.
