An expert in Americans with Disabilities Act standards and guidelines, Mr. Prochilo began his career as a senior technology negotiator for First Data Corporation in 1994 and an intermediate business systems analyst for PNC Global Investment Servicing in 2000. He was promoted to senior business systems analyst in 2003 and the principal IS analyst for Staples in 2009. Since 2017, he has excelled as the chairman for the Accessibility Advisory Commission and the president for Wheelingthrough.com.
In recognition for his work, Mr. Prochilo was honored with an Outstanding Advocacy Award in 2019. He credits his success to his unique experience of being someone without disabilities who later became disabled, as he has been in a wheelchair since 1971 but does not define himself by his disability. He had been actively presenting these talks since 1977 while also working as a technical consultant. Mr. Prochilo ultimately aspires to convince as many people as possible to consider access from a user standpoint because compliance is not always sufficient in real-world situations.
