Mr. Richards has led a successful career in network engineering for nearly four decades. Currently active as a freelance network consultant in Jonesboro, Georgia, he utilizes years of expertise in managing and supporting complex networks and installing and configuring hardware to assist other organizations. Previously, he served as a contractor for General Electric (GE) Power Company in Atlanta during 2017 as a network administrator. Responsible for maintaining its Cisco EIGRP infrastructure, he notably oversaw all four of GE's buildings. An expert in the utility industry, Mr. Richards also garnered extensive experience with several other prominent organizations.
Prior to his commitments with GE, Mr. Richards held several project-based assignments, including as a lead specialist for SITA for five months during 2014, a global information technology services and consulting company that specializes in the air transport industry. He also lent his expertise as a network engineer for InComm, as a senior system engineer for Zones, as a telecommunications engineer for AT&T Systems and, among other roles, as a VoIP technician for Strategic Business Systems.
Mr. Richards served in the Air National Guard between 1983 and 2010. During his term of service with the military, he was fortunate to be recruited to work in intelligence as a communications analyst for the National Security Agency. Mr. Richards also had the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Arts in management at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida, in 1990.
Over the years, Mr. Richards has been adamant about continuing education, which catapulted his professional career. Since earning his degree, he has received a multitude of certifications in his field, including five Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and five Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications. He is also a longtime Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) since 2001, a credential that he has upheld for over 20 consecutive years and earned him a CCIE lifetime emeritus benefit. Less than 3% of Cisco engineers accomplish this status and less than 1% of all networking professionals worldwide have ever received the honor. In addition to his professional schooling and certifications, Mr. Richards has been actively attending Bible school for 45 years.
Celebrating his success, Mr. Richards received numerous quarterly awards from Ascom Timeplex during his service as a field engineer and network consultant for the organization. He also received several quarterly awards from BellSouth. He attributes much of his success over the years to the support of his family. Outside of his professional awards, Mr. Richards was recognized with the Delta Million Miler Status from Delta Airlines in 1973 for his extensive travel.
