In 1982, Mr. Hartleroad joined the tour and visited three wineries, during which time he developed a passion for the winemaking industry.
During the early stages of his journey in the field, Mr. Hartleroad read about wines and spoke to various vintners, during which time he briefly worked in the tasting room of the Gemello Winery in Mountain View, California. Following this period, he moved to Arizona and accompanied an industry expert in numerous wine tastings. Over the years, he took part-time jobs tasting, selling and marketing wine for stores, worked as a monthly wine columnist for V Magazine and wrote a cover story for Arizona Living. Likewise, Mr. Hartleroad served as an intern for Summerland Winery, represented Robert Mondavi Woodbridge Winery and presented wine tastings at Duck and Decanter in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 2012, Mr. Hartleroad established his own wine label, whose design honors the nursing career of his late mother. He also gained valuable expertise as a wine steward for AJ's Fine Foods. Presently, he excels as the brand owner of Blue Cape Cellars LLC. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, he has pursued continued education, earning a technical certificate from DeVry Institute, a certification in enology and viticulture through the Winemaking for Distance Learners Program at the University of California Davis, where he also attained a certificate in winemaking. Additionally, Mr. Hartleroad became certified as a specialist of wine through the Society of Wine Educators in 2011 and earned a certification in OIV wine marking from the University of California Davis.
In recognition of his industry achievements, Mr. Hartleroad was featured in Arizona Living Magazine and nominated for Who's Who in Arizona in 1987.
