Dr. Miranda began her career in elementary and middle school education before subsequently teaching high school students. After her retirement, she pursued a second career in higher education, reflecting a desire to continue working in a classroom setting. Upon establishing herself at Ana G. Méndez University, Dr. Miranda earned a doctorate degree at the age of 62.
Dr. Miranda notably achieved a Bachelor of Arts in elementary and secondary education from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master of Arts in English as a second language from Ana G. Méndez University. She also received a Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction at Capella University. Looking toward the future, Dr. Miranda plans to participate in continuing education courses to further develop her expertise in the industry.
To remain aware of developments in her field, Dr. Miranda has been a member of the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages International Association, the Puerto Rico Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. In light of her achievements in education, Dr. Miranda was named as the Teacher of the Year at her school during her tenure in the public school system.
